At Walksfar Dogwalking, we know East London like the back of our (very treat-filled) pockets—and Walthamstow is one of our favourite stomping grounds. Whether you’re after open fields, shaded woodland trails, or a quiet corner to practise recall, Walthamstow has it all. In this 2025 guide, we’ve sniffed out the best dog-friendly parks in Walthamstow so you and your pup can make the most of your walkies.

1. Walthamstow Marshes
A real favourite among locals and Walksfar regulars, the Marshes offer wide open space, scenic walking paths, and plenty of sniffable grasses. It’s perfect for energetic dogs who love a good run off-lead, and there are quieter pockets for nervous or younger pups.
Great for: Long lead walks, recall training, riverside views
Things to note: Be mindful of cyclists and joggers on shared paths
2. Lloyd Park
This historic park is beautifully maintained and boasts loads of dog-friendly features. While there are some on-lead areas, most of the park is welcoming to well-behaved pups. There’s a duck pond, woodlands, open lawns, and even a pop-up coffee stall for a mid-walk pick-me-up.
Great for: Casual strolls, family dog walks, and social pups
Things to note: Keep dogs on lead around the pond and kids' play area
3. Hackney Marshes
We had to include this one—because it’s the heart of our Walksfar adventure walks! Hackney Marshes offer vast open fields, wooded trails, and the kind of wide, wild space that dogs absolutely love. It’s where we take our pack walks for proper off-lead fun, recall training, and group play.
Great for: High-energy pups, adventure days, training & socialisation
Things to note: It’s popular on weekends, so earlier or midday walks are best
4. Hollow Ponds (Epping Forest Edge)
Technically just over the Walthamstow border, but too good not to include. Hollow Ponds is where East London gets a taste of true forest life. Dogs love the winding paths, wooded trails, and wildlife scents. It's a sensory paradise for adventurous pups.
Great for: Off-lead exploration, woodland vibes
Things to note: Bring a towel—it can get muddy!
5. St. James Park
A bit of a hidden gem, this small but lovely park is ideal for a quiet stroll with your dog. Less busy than other local parks, it's perfect for a peaceful walk, basic training, or a slow-paced senior dog outing.
Great for: Relaxed walks, reactive dogs, peaceful training sessions
Things to note: Not a huge space, but great for shorter outings
6. Higham Hill Park
Tucked away but totally worth a visit, Higham Hill Park has a welcoming, community feel and plenty of space for your dog to sniff and stroll. It also has shaded areas and grassy space to spread out and relax.
Great for: Everyday walks, meetups with other local pups
Things to note: Keep an eye out for squirrels—they’re busy here!
